Cercis canadensis Alba is one of the white redbuds grown for its lovely flowers and distinctive foliage. The dark green leaves on this deciduous tree have a prominent heart shape and as winter approaches, they develop yellow and orange tones before falling. The tree is adorned with white blossoms in spring before the foliage emerges. It grows as either a multi-stemmed or single-trunked tree with a broad and rounded canopy to about 6 m tall and 8 m wide. Best performance is achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, reasonably sheltered site noting that it is tolerant of frost and cool climates. Cercis canadensis Alba is commonly used as a specimen, for avenue planting, for bordering entranceways, or included in mixed plantings.
