Katsura Tree

Commonly known as the Katsura Tree, this is a deciduous tree grown for its lovely foliage and impressive autumn colours. The foliage emerges purple-pink in spring, ages to blue-green, then develops bright shades of orange, pink, purple, and red in autumn before falling. The leaves have a pleasant, spicy fragrance. It grows with an upright, spreading habit to about 7 m tall and 5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and heavier soils. The Katsura Tree makes a fabulous specimen and provides for a dramatic entrance when used in avenue plantings.
