Betula pendula Tristis is a variety of Silver Birch renowned for its slender, pendulous branches. This mid-sized, deciduous tree grows with an upright and open habit, carrying dark green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. They are held on branches that have a graceful arch as it grows to 15 m tall and 8 m wide. Betula pendula Tristis is an excellent tree for growing as a specimen or planting in clusters. Betula pendula Tristis is a variety of Silver Birch renowned for its slender, pendulous branches. This mid-sized, deciduous tree grows with an upright and open habit, carrying dark green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. They are held on branches that have a graceful arch. It also features a white trunk and bears small, green cones in summer. The cones age to brown and hang on the tree long after the leaves have fallen. It typically grows to 15 m tall and 8 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will also grow well on heavy soils and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and coastal conditions. Betula pendula Tristis is an excellent tree for growing as a specimen or planting in clusters.
