Bambusa oldhamii (Giant Timber Bamboo) Details

Bambusa oldhamii is one of the larger bamboos and commonly known as the Giant Timber Bamboo or Oldham’s bamboo. It can grow up to 20 m tall with stems having a diameter of 10 cm. It grows as a clump and produces multiple stems which bear mid-green, dense foliage. This bamboo grows best in full sun on a well-drained site though it will tolerate a range of soil conditions barring extreme wet or dry. Bambusa oldhamii is commonly grown as a specimen but is also very effective for providing privacy screening, hedging, and is perfect for a large, tropical garden. It is a non-invasive species of Bamboo.
