Backhousia anisata Details

Backhousia anisata, commonly known as the Aniseed Myrtle Tree, is a medium sized tree grown for its impressive flowering and delicate foliage. Scented, cream-white flowers are borne through summer and are great for attracting birds and bees. The flowers are complemented with lush, green foliage. It typically grows to 20 m high and 8 m wide though it can be trimmed to sizes much less than this. It prefers a full sun or semi-shade position and a well-drained site. Young trees can be frost tender but once established they become more tolerant. Backhousia anisata is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting in a large garden, or used in avenue plantings. The leaves have a pleasant taste and are often used for cooking to make tea.
