Willow Myrtle

Willow Myrtle is the common name for Agonis flexuosa, a medium-sized, evergreen tree with great aesthetic appeal. The tree becomes adorned with clusters of small, white flowers through late spring and summer which affords a fabulous display. The show is accentuated with the glossy green leaves which are held on semi-pendulous branches. It typically grows to 10 m tall and 5 m wide with a broad growth habit. This is a hardy tree that will grow on a range of soil conditions, barring the extremes of wet and dry, and is tolerant of coastal conditions, frost, and cool climates. Willow Myrtle will, however, grow best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with some wind protection. Agonis flexuosa is commonly gown as a specimen, used for avenue and park plantings, or included in coastal gardens.
