Agathis robusta, commonly known as the Queensland Kauri, is a large evergreen tree that grows straight and tall to a height of 30-50 m. It has smooth, scaly bark, and glossy green leaves that are lush and somewhat leathery in appearance. This tree grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site and will grow well in a range of soil conditions, barring extreme wet and dry. It will tolerate moderate frost and wind once established but young trees should be protected. The Queensland Kauri is commonly grown as a specimen in a large garden and looks impressive when planted in clusters.
