Afrocarpus mannii is an evergreen, coniferous tree grown for its interesting foliage. It features long and lush, green leaves which are held densely in a pendulous manner. It grows with an upright habit to about 10-15 m tall and 8 m wide, ultimately producing a broad crown. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Afrocarpus mannii is commonly included in a mixed planting, trimmed into a hedge, or grown as an amazing specimen. It is well adapted to growing in alpine positions but will grow equally well at lower altitudes.
