Aesculus indica, Indian Horse Chestnut

Aesculus indica, commonly known as the Indian Horse Chestnut, is a lovely spreading tree. It produces large sprays of white flowers which are spotted with yellow and flushed with pink through summer. The foliage comprises large and glossy, dark green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling as it grows to reach 12 m tall and 8 m wide. Aesculus indica is commonly grown as a shade tree, used in avenue and park plantings, grown as a specimen, or incorporated into a mixed planting in a large garden.

Indian Horse Chestnut

The Indian Horse Chestnut tree, Aesculus indica, is a lovely spreading tree. It produces large sprays of white flowers which are spotted with yellow and flushed with pink through summer. The flowers are followed by brown coloured fruits in autumn. The foliage comprises large and glossy, dark green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a spreading habit to eventually reach 12 m tall and 8 m wide. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate cool climates and frost but not extended dry periods. The Indian Horse Chestnut tree is commonly grown as a shade tree, used in avenue and park plantings, grown as a specimen, or incorporated into a mixed planting in a large garden.
