Acmena ‘Speed Screen’ is a quick-growing variety of Lilly Pilly that is grown for its colourful and dense foliage. New growth is copper-coloured and ages to become a fresh green colour. Cream-coloured flowers are produced during summer and result in edible, pink berries. This evergreen typically grows to 8 m tall and 3 m wide, but it is often trimmed to much smaller sizes. It performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site and is tolerant of moderate frost and short periods of dry once established. ‘Speed Screen’ is commonly clipped into a hedge, used for screening or as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in pool and modern garden designs, or grown as a topiary standard in courtyard plantings or maintained in a container.
