Acmena hemilampra is a variety of Lilly Pilly that is grown for its colourful and dense foliage. New growth is orange-yellow and ages to become a fresh green colour. Cream-coloured flowers are produced during summer and result in white berries. This evergreen typically grows to 8 m tall and 3 m wide, but is often clipped to smaller sizes. It performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of light frost and periods of dry once established. Acmena hemilampra is commonly clipped into a hedge, used for screening or as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in pool and modern garden designs, used in avenue and park plantings, or grown as a topiary standard either in courtyard plantings or in a container.
