“Tamukeyama” is a variety of Japanese Maple that features a rich display of colourful, weeping foliage. The finely cut leaves emerge crimson red in spring, age to purple-red through summer, then develop colourful, red tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a rounded shape to about 2 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. “Tamukeyama” makes for an impressive specimen and is ideal for adding to a mixed planting, planting to soften a bland wall, maintaining in a container, planting around outdoor living areas, or using anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
