“Seiryu” is a Japanese Maple that features a rich display of colourful and delicate foliage. The finely cut leaves emerge lime green, remain this colour through summer, then develop orange and red tones as autumn progresses before falling. It grows with a broad and upright habit to about 5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this Maple is achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and will grow on a range of soil types, barring the extremes of wet and dry. “Seiryu” is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, planted against a bland wall, or used anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
