Acer Scolopendrifolium Rubrum, commonly known as the Red Japanese Maple, features a rich display of foliage. This attractive tree has long, narrow, bright green leaves with new shoots having a salmon tone. As autumn progresses the foliage turns apricot-orange with yellow hues. Trees will typically grow to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, growing best in full sun on a well-drained site. They will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer Scolopendrifolium Rubrum is a magnificent specimen that is ideal for mixed plantings, large gardens, planting against a stark wall, or for using anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed. This plant is also suited to container planting.
