Acer pseudoplatanus

Commonly known as the Sycamore, this Maple is a large, deciduous tree. The leaves are large, dark green, and develop red-orange tones in autumn before falling. In summer, clusters of small, orange-yellow flowers are borne on drooping stems. It has an upright, spreading growth habit and eventually reaches 20 m tall and 15 m wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. Trees will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. This is a magnificent specimen which is ideal for mixed plantings, large gardens, or for use as a shade tree.
