Acer platanoides Drummondii, commonly known as the Plane-Leaved Maple or Norway Maple, is a medium sized, deciduous tree with fantastic foliage. The leaves are large and variegated with green and cream. As autumn progresses, they turn shades of orange and yellow before falling. In summer, clusters of small, orange-yellow flowers are often borne. It grows with an upright, spreading growth habit and eventually reaches 10 m tall and 7 m wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with young trees protected from wind while they establish. It will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer Drummondii is a magnificent specimen and is ideal for mixed plantings, large gardens, or for use as a shade tree.
