Acer palmatum Trompenburg is a Japanese Maple that features a rich display of colourful foliage. This attractive, small tree bears purple-red foliage which turns crimson red in autumn before falling. It typically grows to just 4 m tall and 3 m wide, though can be trimmed as necessary. This Maple grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer Trompenburg is ideal for including in a mixed planting, planting against a bland wall or around outdoor living areas, maintaining in a container, or including anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
