Acer palmatum Roseo-marginatum is a variety of Japanese Maple that features impressively coloured foliage. The leaves emerge light green with bright pink edges in spring, age to become variegated green and white, then develop purple-red tones in autumn before falling. It grows densely with a tidy habit to about 4 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer Roseo-marginatum makes for a magnificent specimen and is ideal for mixed plantings, planting against a stark wall, or using anywhere the spectacular colours can be enjoyed.
