Acer palmatum Omurayama is an impressive variety of Japanese Maple that features a rich display of delicate foliage held on pendulous branches. Leaves on this deciduous tree emerge bright green, darken slightly during summer, then develop orange-yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a somewhat broad and rounded habit to about 3 m tall and the same wide. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frosts, cool climates, some wind, and will grow on a range of soil types, but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry.
