Acer palmatum Burgundy Lace is a variety of Japanese Maple that features a rich display of colourful and delicate foliage. Leaves on this deciduous tree emerge burgundy red and remain this colour well into summer. Through late summer the leaf colouring starts to change to a bronze-green before finally turning red in autumn and falling. Small, purple flowers in summer are followed by red berries which provide additional interest to this tree. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, short periods of dry, and will grow on a range of soil types, barring extreme wet and dry.
