Acer japonicum Green Cascade is a popular variety of the commonly known, Full Moon Maple, and is grown for its rich, soft foliage. The leaves on this small, deciduous tree are feathery in appearance. They emerge light yellow and age to a mid-green with yellow tones before turning purple in autumn and falling. It grows with a graceful, arching growth habit to eventually reach about 4 m tall and the same wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. It is also tolerant of frost and cool climates though wind protection is generally required. Acer japonicum Green Cascade is commonly grown as a specimen or added to mixed plantings and is very aesthetically pleasing.
