Acer Grosseri Details

Acer Grosseri is a variety of the commonly known, Snakebark Maple, and is grown for its rich foliage and interesting bark. The leaves on this deciduous tree are large and mid-green in colour. As autumn progresses, they turn pink and yellow before falling. The bark has interesting silver-grey stripes on an olive background, hence the common name. It grows with an open, flat-topped habit, with a crown of arching branches to about 15 m tall and 10 m wide. Best growth is achieved when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. While trees will grow on a range of soil types it will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. It is nonetheless tolerant of frost, cool climates, and moderate wind. Acer Grosseri is suited to parks and larger gardens where it is often used as a specimen with the added advantage of providing great shade.
