Acer Gracefield is a variety of the commonly known, Snakebark Maple, and is grown for its rich foliage and interesting bark. The lush leaves on this deciduous tree emerge pink with green splashes in spring, age to become variegated green and cream, then turn red-orange in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright and rounded habit to about 4 m tall and 3 m wide, though can be contained with trimming. The branches are held with a somewhat weeping manner. Best results with this Maple are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and a range of soil types, barring extreme wet and dry. Acer Gracefield is commonly grown as a small specimen, added to a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. It can also be maintained in a container with the foliage cascading over the sides. This popular tree is easy to grow, very forgiving, and has great aesthetic appeal.
