Acer conspicuum Esk Flamingo is a variety of Maple grown for its rich and colourful foliage. The lush leaves on this deciduous tree emerge pink with green splashes in spring, age to become variegated green, pink, and cream, then turn orange-yellow in autumn before falling. It grows with an upright and rounded habit to reach just 4 m tall and 2 m wide, though can be contained further with trimming. The branches are held with a somewhat weeping habit. Best results with this Maple are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and a range of soil types, barring extreme wet and dry. Acer Esk Flamingo is commonly grown as a small specimen, added to a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. It can also be maintained in a container with the foliage cascading over the sides. This popular tree is easy to grow, very forgiving, and has great aesthetic appeal.
