“Autumn Glory” is an outstanding and colourful, medium-sized, deciduous tree. The lush foliage emerges mid-green in spring, quickly ages to dark green, then turns bright red and orange in autumn before falling. In spring, clusters of showy, red flowers are produced which result in red, winged seeds called samaras. It has an upright and broad growth habit, typically reaching 18 m tall and 8 m wide, and prefers a full sun position and a well-drained site. It will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. It is also tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, and coastal environments but will produce a better tree if it is protected while establishing. “Autumn Glory” makes for a magnificent specimen and is ideal for adding to a mixed planting in a large garden, using in avenue plantings, or planting for shade.
