Acer Aratama is an unusual and petite Dwarf Japanese maple which carries a rich display of graceful, delicate foliage. Leaves on this deciduous tree emerge brick red along horizontal branches. These darken to an almost olive colour through summer before turning yellow-orange in autumn and falling. Trees will grow to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best in full sun on a well-drained site. Trees will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry and are also tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Acer Aratama is a magnificent specimen which is ideal for mixed plantings, container growing, bonsai, planting around an entrance way, or using anywhere the spectacular colour can be enjoyed.
