Acer Amoenum Details

Acer palmatum Amoenum is a variety of the commonly known, Japanese Maple, and is grown for its rich display of colourful foliage. Leaves on this medium-sized, deciduous tree emerge light green-yellow in spring, age to dark green, then develop brilliant shades of red in autumn before falling. Small, red flowers are borne in spring but are generally regarded as not significant. It grows with a broad crown to about 10 m tall and 8 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some shade, short periods of dry, and will grow on a range of soil types but will struggle at the extremes of wet and dry. Acer Amoenum makes for a magnificent and colourful specimen and is well suited to avenue planting.
