Acacia baileyana ‘Purpurea’, commonly known as Purple Acacia, is a striking small tree admired for its soft, purple-tinged foliage and bright yellow winter flowers. Growing 4–6 metres tall, it provides year-round interest and colour in New Zealand gardens. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, and is tolerant of dry conditions, light frosts, and coastal environments. Fast-growing and low maintenance, it’s ideal as a feature tree, in shelter planting, or for adding contrast in native or mixed plantings.
