Sempervivum tectorum, commonly known as Common Houseleek, grows as a mat of fleshy rosettes with leaves that are typically green with red-pink tips. During cooler periods or in times of moisture stress the plants often develop purple tones. Star-shaped, pink flowers are borne on short stems during summer. Each rosette is typically 10 cm tall and 15 cm wide, but it will grow wider over time as more rosettes are produced. Sempervivum tectorum is commonly grown in a container or included in rock gardens.

Sempervivum tectorum, commonly known as Common Houseleek, is a smaller succulent grown for its foliage and flowers. It grows as a mat of fleshy rosettes with leaves that are typically green with red-pink tips. During cooler periods or in times of moisture stress the plants often develop purple tones. Star-shaped, pink flowers are borne on short stems during summer. Each rosette is typically 10 cm tall and 15 cm wide, but it will grow wider over time as more rosettes are produced. Best results with this succulent are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, frost-free site. It is tolerant of extended dry periods. Sempervivum tectorum is commonly grown in a container or included in rock gardens.
