How to grow Sedum dendroideum in NZ

Sedum dendroideum grows best in full sun with well drained soil. Improve heavy soils with coarse sand or grit before planting and water regularly while establishing. Once established it only requires occasional watering during prolonged dry periods. Apply a light dressing of balanced fertiliser in spring to support healthy growth.

Sedum dendroideum care tips

Sedum dendroideum is very easy to maintain and requires little pruning beyond removing damaged stems or spent flowers. Avoid overwatering, especially during winter, and ensure the soil drains freely. Trim plants lightly if needed to maintain a compact shape and divide or propagate cuttings to produce new plants.

Sedum dendroideum size, spacing, and growth rate

Sedum dendroideum typically grows 60 to 100 centimetres tall and 60 to 90 centimetres wide. Space plants around 70 centimetres apart so they have room to develop naturally. Growth is moderate, producing a bushy succulent with attractive foliage and seasonal flowers.

Landscaping uses for Sedum dendroideum

Sedum dendroideum is ideal for rock gardens, succulent gardens, containers, sunny borders, and water wise landscapes. Its bold foliage provides year round interest while the yellow flowers attract pollinators.
