Growing Agave vilmoriniana (Octopus Agave) in NZ is simple when planted in free draining soil and a sunny location. It thrives in sandy or rocky sites and tolerates coastal conditions well. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils, as these can cause root problems. Once established, it is highly drought tolerant and requires minimal watering. Agave vilmoriniana (Octopus Agave) care tips

Caring for Agave vilmoriniana (Octopus Agave) is easy thanks to its tough, low maintenance nature. Water sparingly, particularly in winter, and allow the soil to dry between waterings. Remove old or damaged leaves at the base to maintain a tidy rosette. Fertilising is generally unnecessary, but a light application of cactus fertiliser in spring can encourage strong growth. With its natural hardiness, Agave vilmoriniana (Octopus Agave) provides striking structure with minimal effort required.
