Agave nickelsiae is commonly used as an attractive feature in modern gardens, particularly when planted in clusters or used to contrast with other colours and forms. It is also ideal for mixed plantings, rock gardens, growing in a container, or including in Mediterranean garden themes.

Agave nickelsiae features short and stiff, dark olive-green leaves with white stripes. The broad and fleshy leaves are held as a rosette and the leaves do not have any spines. Mature plants may produce a flower spike that can reach up to 4 m in length which bears clusters of yellow flowers flushed with purple-red. Ignoring the flowering stem, it typically grows to 60 cm tall and 75 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun with a well-drained soil. It is very tolerant of dry conditions, cool climates, and will tolerate moderate frost. Agave nickelsiae is commonly used as an attractive feature in modern gardens, particularly when planted in clusters or used to contrast with other colours and forms. It is also ideal for mixed plantings, rock gardens, growing in a container, or including in Mediterranean garden themes.
