Agave Joe Hoak is grown for its foliage and hardy nature. This Agave desmettiana variety grows as a rosette with fleshy leaves that are variegated with cream and dark green. The leaves radiate outwards from the centre of the plant and have a graceful arch. Each leaf has sharp spines along their edges. Mature plants may produce a large flower spike with golden yellow flowers. This succulent typically grows to 70 cm tall and 1.2 m wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of dry conditions, light shade, and moderate frost.
