Agave attenuata Boutin Blue produces an attractive rosette of broad, silver-blue leaves. It has stout and curving stems that push the plant up to 1 m high. Eventually old leaves fall off, leaving a naked stem. Leaves emerge from a tight central spear to arch gracefully back, looking a bit like a large and open, green flower. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide. This Agave grows best in full sun with a well-drained soil considered essential and a very tolerant of dry conditions. Agave attenuata Boutin Blue is commonly used as an attractive feature in modern gardens, particularly when planted in clusters or used to contrast with other colours and forms. It is also ideal for mixed plantings, rock gardens, growing in a container, planting around the pool area, or including in Mediterranean garden themes.
