Yucca whipplei, commonly known as the Lord's Candle Yucca or Chaparral Yucca, is grown for its impressive foliage and flowering. It features dark green-grey, sharp-tipped, narrow leaves borne as a rosette. A flower spike often rises above the foliage in summer to bear masses of pendulous, cream-coloured flowers. It typically grows as a ball to 1.2 m tall and the same wide. Yucca whipplei is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, or planted around the base of larger trees.
