Viburnum plicatum Newport is a variety of the commonly known, Doublefile Viburnum, and is a deciduous shrub grown for its foliage and flowers. Showy clusters of white, pompom-like flowers appear during spring and are borne on gently arching branches that also host dark green leaves. The combination of flowers and foliage is very aesthetic. The foliage develops impressive shades of red in autumn before falling. It typically grows to 1.3 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry periods, coastal conditions, frost, and cool climates.
