Viburnum opulus roseum, commonly known as the Snowball Bush, is a deciduous variety that features impressive foliage and showy flowers. Showy clusters of pure white flowers appear like pompoms during spring and often fade to pink. These are borne above the lush, soft, green, maple-like foliage which provides for a stunning contrast. The foliage develops impressive red, orange, and purple tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a rounded shape to about 3 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry periods, coastal conditions, frost, and cool climates. Viburnum roseum is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, planted around outdoor living areas, or trimmed into a hedge.
