Viburnum carlesii, commonly known as the Korean Spice Viburnum, is a deciduous shrub grown for its lovely foliage and showy, fragrant flowers. Pink flower buds open to reveal showy clusters of fragrant, white-pale pink flowers during spring. The flowers are great for attracting bees and birds and are followed by blue-black berries. The foliage emerges a fresh green in spring and remains this way until autumn when it develops impressive red tones before falling. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate coastal conditions, dry periods, frost, and cool climates.
