Thryptomene saxicola 'Supernova'

How to grow Thryptomene saxicola 'Supernova' in NZ

Thryptomene saxicola 'Supernova' grows best in full sun with well drained soil and good airflow. It performs particularly well in warm and coastal regions of New Zealand where conditions remain relatively dry and sunny. Water regularly during establishment to encourage healthy root growth, then reduce watering once established as the plant tolerates dry periods well. Adding compost at planting time can improve soil quality while maintaining drainage. Choose a sheltered site protected from severe frost and prolonged winter wet conditions for the best long term results.

Thryptomene saxicola 'Supernova' care tips

Thryptomene saxicola 'Supernova' is easy to maintain and benefits from light trimming after flowering to encourage compact growth and fresh new stems. Avoid heavy pruning into old wood as recovery may be slow. Water during extended dry periods while the plant is establishing, but avoid overly wet conditions as good drainage is essential. Apply a light dressing of slow release fertiliser during spring to support healthy flowering and foliage growth. Mulching around the base helps conserve moisture and suppress weeds throughout the growing season.
