Telopea ‘Red Embers’, commonly known as Warratah, is grown for its large and showy, red flowers which are often used in floral arrangements. The flowers in early spring are complemented with lush green foliage. It grows as a woody shrub to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of extended dry periods, moderate frost, and cool climates, though some protection while establishing will benefit the overall performance. Telopea ‘Red Embers’ is a versatile plant that is often included in mixed plantings, added to coastal gardens, maintained in a container, planted around pool areas, or grown anywhere the beauty of the large flowers can be enjoyed.
