Tasmannia lanceolata, commonly known as the Mountain Pepper plant, is a shrub renowned for its pepper tasting leaves and berries which are often dried and used as a spice. Small cream or white flowers appear in summer and are followed by black, berries which attract birds as it grows to 5 m tall and 3 m wide. Tasmannia lanceolata makes an interesting addition to shrub gardens and in a smaller garden it is commonly used as a feature or specimen plant.
