Syringa vulgaris Primrose is grown for its showy flowers from late spring through summer. During this time, it produces stunning clusters of cream-yellow flowers with an elegant fragrance. These are beautiful and are great for attracting butterflies. The foliage comprises fresh green, heart-shaped leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows upright with a somewhat loose habit to about 3 m tall and the same wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of light shade, short periods of dry, frost, and cool climates.
