Syringa Ruhm von Horstenstein is a variety of French Lilac grown for its showy flowers from late spring through summer. During this time, purple buds open to reveal clusters of fragrant, single, dark purple flowers. These are absolutely stunning and also attract butterflies. The foliage comprises dark green, heart-shaped leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows upright with a somewhat loose habit to about 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide though can be trimmed as necessary.
