Syringa Alice Eastwood Details

Syringa Alice Eastwood is a variety of French Lilac grown for its showy flowers in late spring. At this time, purple buds open to reveal fragrant, double, cyclamen pink flowers which are great for attracting butterflies. The foliage comprises dark green, heart-shaped leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows upright with a somewhat loose habit to about 2.5 m tall and 1.5 m wide, though can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of light shade, short periods of dry, frost, and cool climates. Syringa Alice Eastwood is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, added to cottage gardens, or used as a flowering hedge. It is well suited to planting around outdoor living areas where the beautiful colours can be enjoyed.
