Sophora davidii is a large shrub grown for its impressive flowering and lovely foliage. It produces mases of small, pea-like, fragrant, pale-blue and white flowers are borne from spring through summer. The foliage is mid green and has a soft and fresh appearance as it grows to 3 m tall and the same wide. Sophora davidii is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted to attract birds.

Kowhai Davidii

Kowhai davidii is a large shrub grown for its impressive flowering and lovely foliage. It produces mases of small, pea-like, fragrant, pale-blue and white flowers are borne from spring through summer. The foliage is mid green and has a soft and fresh appearance. It grows with a multi-stemmed, open nature to about 3 m tall and the same wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this shrub are achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of moderate frost and dry periods though should be afforded protection while establishing. Kowhai davidii is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted to attract birds.
