Royena lucida, commonly known as the African Snowdrop Bush, is an evergreen shrub grown for its showy foliage. The lush and glossy leaves emerge bronze-red then age to become dark green. It grows with a compact habit to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide and responds well to trimming. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. The African Snowdrop Bush will tolerate moderate frost as well as short periods of dry. Royena lucida is a low maintenance plant is commonly trimmed into a fabulous hedge, added to mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, or planted to soften a bland wall.
