Commonly known as Laceleaf, this variety of Rhus is a hardy shrub grown for its foliage and autumn colours. The fern-like leaves are long, deeply cut, and bright green and held with a drooping manner. As autumn progresses they turn impressive shades of orange and gold before falling which makes the plant a standout at this time. It grows upright and broad to about 2.5 m tall and the same wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. Laceleaf is commonly grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, or sited for its warm autumn colours.
