Rangateia is the common name for Pseudopanax discolor, a lush and multi-coloured plant. It has leathery leaves which are green and flushed with orange and red. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide but can be contained with trimming as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun. In partial shade it tends to grow with an open habit. It is tolerant of wind, coastal environments, moderate drought, and frost once established.
