Rangateia

Rangateia is the common name for Pseudopanax discolor, a lush and multi-coloured plant. It has leathery leaves which are green and flushed with orange and red. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide but can be contained with trimming as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun. In partial shade it tends to grow with an open habit. It is tolerant of wind, coastal environments, moderate drought, and frost once established. Rangateia is commonly included in a mixed planting, planted around the barbecue, pool, or patio area, or used in native revegetation programs.
