“Compact Gem” is a rounded shrub grown for its impressive flowering. The plant becomes adorned with masses of sweetly fragrant, pale pink-mauve flowers through spring and summer. These sit above the green-grey leaves which are coated with fine, white hairs. This evergreen typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and will tolerate mild frost and short periods of dry. “Compact Gem” makes a fantastic addition to a mixed planting and a stunning backdrop for smaller plants. It is commonly included in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used to provide vibrant colour to an area.
