Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Tiki’ is a popular variety of Pittosporum due to its lush foliage and pretty flowers in spring. Slender stems host small and glossy, dark green leaves which are held densely. The foliage is complemented with masses of small, red-purple flowers through summer. This evergreen typically grows to 3 m tall and 3 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary which encourages new growth. It grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of most soil conditions, barring the extremes of wet and dry. It is also tolerant of wind, coastal conditions, periods of dry, and frost once established. Pittosporum ‘Tiki’ is commonly included in coastal and native gardens, trimmed into a hedge, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted for shelter or screening.
